Every year, thousands of people are reported missing across the UK, and volunteer search teams play an important role in helping emergency services locate vulnerable individuals.

Dorset Search and Rescue supports police forces by providing trained volunteers who can conduct structured searches across rural, urban and coastal areas.

The team specialises in locating high-risk missing people, including those suffering from dementia, mental health crises or other vulnerabilities. Volunteers receive training in navigation, search management, casualty care and personal safety.

Raising awareness of how search teams operate helps the public understand the importance of community support and volunteer involvement.

Anyone interested in supporting the team — either through volunteering or fundraising — is encouraged to get in touch.
