Supporting Police & Emergency Services

The Extra Hands That Make All the Difference
We don’t work in isolation — and we’re proud of that. Dorset Search and Rescue exists to complement and support the incredible work of Dorset Police, the ambulance service, the fire service, and other emergency responders. When major incidents stretch resources thin, when a search requires more boots on the ground, or when specialist search skills are needed fast — that’s where we come in.
Our volunteers are fully integrated into the emergency services framework, trained to operate safely and effectively alongside professional responders. We understand the command structures, the communication protocols, and the critical importance of working as one cohesive team under pressure.
How we support the emergency services:
- Providing additional trained search personnel at major incidents
- Supporting police-led operations with specialist search capability
- Assisting at road traffic collisions and other emergency scenes
- Manning cordons and access points during large-scale incidents
- Providing welfare support to other responders during prolonged operations
This partnership approach means that when Dorset’s emergency services need backup, they know exactly who to call. And we’ll always answer.
