Volunteers from Dorset Search and Rescue were recently called out to assist police in the search for a missing person.
Team members were deployed across several areas, working through the night using structured search techniques and specialist equipment, including GPS tracking, search planning software and high-powered lighting.
Search operations rely heavily on coordinated teamwork and detailed planning. Volunteers work in small teams to methodically cover areas of interest while maintaining constant communication with the search managers and police officers overseeing the operation.
DORSAR’s role is to provide trained volunteers who can cover large areas quickly and efficiently, helping emergency services locate vulnerable missing people as safely and quickly as possible.
The organisation remains on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
