Last weekend, volunteers from Dorset Search and Rescue gathered for a full-day training exercise designed to sharpen essential search and rescue skills.
The session focused on navigation, search planning, casualty care and communication procedures. Teams worked through realistic scenarios across rural terrain, practising coordinated search patterns and casualty evacuation techniques.
Training exercises like these are vital to ensure volunteers remain ready to respond when called upon by the emergency services. DORSAR works closely with police and other agencies to assist in searches for vulnerable missing people across Dorset.
As a fully volunteer organisation, regular training ensures that team members remain equipped with the knowledge, confidence and teamwork required during real deployments.
